Boudh, May 23: Acting on a tip-off, Boudh police seized 160 kilograms of cannabis from Olanda village on Thursday and arrested a woman in connection with the case. The raid was conducted around 10 a.m. at the residence of a local resident, where cannabis was reportedly stored.
During the operation, police recovered several sacks of cannabis from the backyard of the house. The seized contraband was later weighed in the presence of a magistrate and confirmed to be 1 quintal and 60 kilograms.
The accused, identified as Menaka Swain (40), was taken into custody and produced before the court later in the afternoon. Her minor son, who was also present during the raid, was brought to the police station and later presented before the Juvenile Justice Board, officials confirmed.
Police investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of the illegal trade and identify other individuals involved.
