According to official sources, the cub had been receiving veterinary care since March after it started limping. It was treated with medication, diagnostic tests, and special nutrition.

Experts from the Centre for Wildlife Health (CWH) were also consulted, but blood tests showed no serious issues. Although there was some improvement, the cub still showed signs of physical weakness.

Zoo officials said the cub ate normally and seemed fine on the night of May 31. However, it fell ill on the morning of June 1 and died later that evening. A post-mortem is being done to find out the exact cause of death.

The other two cubs, both regular-colored, are also showing similar symptoms. They are currently receiving medical tests and treatment.

After the cub's death, Nandankanan now has 27 tigers in total, including 18 regular-colored, 5 white, and 4 melanistic tigers.
