Mangoes grace divine deities at Radha Gopinath Temple in Odisha

Bhograi, June 10: A grand mango festival was celebrated at the famous Radha Gopinath Temple in the Sankhari area of Bhograi in Odisha’s Balasore district. On this special occasion, over 20 quintals of mangoes of 8 different varieties were used to beautifully decorate the idols of Lord Radha Krishna and Srila Prabhupada.

The festival takes place every year on the Dwadashi Tithi, the day after Pandava Nirjala Ekadashi in the month of June. Devotees from nearby areas gather at the temple to witness this unique celebration.

According to the temple chairman, Labanya Gaur Das, the main purpose of the festival is to inspire people to chant the holy name of the Lord and to awaken spiritual consciousness, encouraging everyone to surrender to God.

During the event, there were special programs such as evening Aarti, Bhagavata Katha (spiritual storytelling), bhajans and kirtans (devotional singing), followed by the distribution of prasadam (blessed food) to all devotees.

The temple was decorated with various mango varieties like Begunphuli, Him Sagar, Tota, Nati, and more. The dazzling display of over 20 quintals of mangoes attracted and delighted all visitors and devotees.
