Sambalpur, May 27: In yet another incident of stone pelting on trains, miscreants targeted the Alleppey Express near Talbhatapada in Khetrarajpur late Sunday night. The incident occurred around 11:30 PM, when unidentified individuals hurled stones at one of the general coaches. Fortunately, no passengers were injured.
According to sources, the train was halted due to a red signal when the incident took place. Acting swiftly, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) registered a case and arrested three youths following an investigation.
This is not an isolated case. Just days earlier, the Tapaswini Express, en route from Puri to Hatia, was attacked with stones between Rengali and Lapanga stations. The culprits in that case remain unidentified.
Stone pelting on trains has become an alarming trend in the region. A few months ago, a passenger sustained injuries in a similar incident near Jagannath Colony. Despite multiple occurrences, the motives behind these attacks remain unclear, and authorities continue their efforts to prevent such acts of vandalism.
