Bhadrak, May 25: In a tragic incident, a youth reportedly drowned in the sacred Shiva Ganga pond located at the famous Aradi Pitha in Odisha's Bhadrak district on Sunday morning.
The deceased youth has been identified as Debabrata Mishra, a resident of Dobal Sohada Sasan under Dhamnagar police limits.
According to sources, Debabrata and three of his friends had come to the Aradi shrine early in the morning on two motorcycles. Before offering prayers to Baba Akhandalamani, they went to take a bath in the sacred Shiva Ganga pond inside the temple premises.
While bathing, Debabrata and one of his friends accidentally slipped into deep water and began to drown. Locals and their other friends jumped to their rescue and rushed both of them to Aradi Hospital where the doctors declared Debabrata dead on arrival.
Debabrata’s friend who accidentally slipped with him is currently undergoing treatment.
Upon getting the information, Aradi outpost police arrived at the spot and launched an investigation into the incident. The cops seized the deceased’s body and sent it for post-mortem.
The sudden death has brought a wave of sadness over the Aradi Pitha.
