A sacred akhand deep (eternal lamp) was lit at the temple as a symbol of healing and hope, with emotional appeals made for Patnaik's successful surgery and quick return to public service.

Former MP and senior BJD leader Amar Patnaik said, “We have come together at the Jagannath Temple in Delhi with members of the Odia community living here. As everyone is aware, our beloved former Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, is undergoing surgery in Mumbai tomorrow. While people in Odisha continue to pray for him, those of us in the capital have also gathered here to light a lamp and seek Lord Jagannath’s blessings for his successful recovery.”

He continued, “For Naveen Patnaik ji, politics has always been about service—it’s a spiritual mission for him. He has dedicated his life to the upliftment of the underprivileged. There is no leader like him in the country. Naturally, when his health is at stake, we are all very concerned and united in our prayers.”

Rajya Sabha MP and BJD leader Sulata Deo also shared her thoughts, saying, “When Naveen ji shared his health update, the entire state of Odisha responded with deep affection and concern. People lit lamps and prayed for him like they would for a dear family member. He has always said that every Odia is his family—and today, that family is praying for his well-being.”

The prayer gathering in Delhi reflects the widespread concern and emotional support for Patnaik, who is scheduled to undergo treatment for cervical arthritis on June 22. His followers and well-wishers across the country await his speedy recovery and return to public life.
