Sambalpur, May 25: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, during his visit to Sambalpur on Sunday, inaugurated the newly constructed Durga Palli Railway Overbridge. Built at a cost of over ₹60.43 crore, the overbridge is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion and enhance connectivity in the city.
Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Pradhan highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Central and State governments in developing modern infrastructure for Sambalpur.
He termed the project a “positive step” toward transforming the city into a more modern and efficient urban space.
“This overbridge will help reduce traffic congestion in the area and ensure safer and smoother travel for the public,” he said.
Looking ahead, the minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transforming Sambalpur into a prosperous and well-equipped city under the "Double Engine Government" model. Key development areas will include improved road infrastructure, drinking water facilities, healthcare services, and sanitation systems.
Plans are underway to strengthen the city’s connectivity through a ring road and the construction of internal roads. Additionally, a new bridge over the Mahanadi River is proposed, which will link Burla and Hirakud — a major boost to regional infrastructure.
