New Delhi, May 26: The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the National Testing Agency (NTA) in response to a petition alleging discrepancies in the JEE Main 2025 scorecards, raising concerns about result accuracy and procedural transparency.

Justice Vikas Mahajan issued the notice after hearing arguments from the petitioner’s counsel and scheduled the matter for further hearing on May 29.

The petition, filed through Advocate Ajay Kumar, was brought by an Indian student residing in Muscat, Oman, who appeared for the JEE Main 2025 in two sessions—on January 23 and April 2. According to the plea, the student’s scorecard, linked to a single application number, displayed two conflicting percentiles: 55.3923599 and 89.4152364.

After the petitioner submitted copies of both scorecards to the NTA for clarification, the agency responded on March 13, stating that the correct percentile for the first session was 55.3923599. The NTA dismissed the other scorecard as forged and referred the case to its Unfair Means (UFM) Committee.

The petition alleges that the UFM Committee took action without conducting a proper inquiry or issuing a show-cause notice to the student. The petitioner claims no formal notification or final report was shared with him.

Despite taking the second session exam on April 2, the petitioner found his scorecard marked with a "UFM" status when results were released on April 19, along with a remark stating he was "debarred for 2025-26 and 2026-27." The NTA cited Paragraph 5.5 of the JEE Main 2025 Information Bulletin to justify this decision.

The plea contends that this rule applies only in cases where a candidate submits multiple application forms, which was not the case here. The petitioner asserts that, in the absence of any formal investigation or evidence of misconduct, the NTA wrongly flagged his scorecard and imposed an unjustified two-year ban.

According to the petition, on May 20, the NTA informed the student that his final scorecard had been uploaded. However, as of May 21, the result continued to show the UFM status.

The petitioner argues that the delay in resolving the issue could severely impact his chances of securing admission under the Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) scheme, with the admission process to NITs, IIITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) set to begin in early June.
