Bhubaneswar, June 11: The Odisha crime branch has seized 319 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 31 lakh on the outskirts of the capital city and arrested a person involved in peddling drugs.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the special task force (STF) of the crime branch conducted a raid on the bank of river Kuakhai on Tuesday and seized the drug from his possession, police informed on Wednesday.
The arrested drug peddler is a resident of Bhubaneswar.
Police also seized a motorcycle reportedly used by the accused for transporting the narcotics. He was later produced before the Court of the District Judge of Khurda.
The person has a criminal history and was previously involved in two other cases registered at the Badagada and Balianta police stations in Bhubaneswar, said police.
