Assam's 9-Year-Old Binita Chetry Secures Third Place at Britain's Got Talent 2025
Nine-year-old dancer Binita Chetry from Assam, India, has achieved an international recognition by securing the third position in the finals of the prestigious "Britain's Got Talent" (BGT) 2025. Her remarkable journey and captivating performances on the global stage, which concluded on May 31st in the UK, have garnered widespread applause and commendation, including praise from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Podium Finish on Global Talent Stage
Binita Chetry, who hails from Bokajan in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district, became the first contestant from India to reach the finals of this year's BGT competition. In the grand finale, she was announced as the second runner-up. Upon receiving the result, Binita expressed her joy, stating, "I am very happy and proud of myself, and it's the best experience." British magician Harry Moulding was declared the winner of the competition, with the LED dance group 'The Blackouts' securing the second position.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media platform X to congratulate the young talent. Sharing a video of her final moments on the show, he wrote, "Dancing her way to glory. Many congratulations to our very own Binita Chetry on securing the 3rd spot at Britain's Got Talent final. Her performances have mesmerised audiences from the Brahmaputra to the Thames and made us all proud." Binita, who had shared during her audition her dream of winning to buy a "pink princess house," expressed her gratitude for the Chief Minister's "immense support and blessings" and conveyed her wish to meet him. Her father, Amar Chettri, a broiler farm owner and an executive member of the All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union, played a pivotal role by arranging her dance training in Guwahati and later in Jaipur.
