A key part of this transformation is the removal of all traffic signals along the busy Jaydev Vihar–Nandankanan corridor, known for its heavy congestion and frequent bottlenecks.
To replace the traditional traffic signals, the government plans to introduce cutting-edge traffic management systems designed to ensure a smoother and more uninterrupted flow of traffic. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance the commuting experience for residents and visitors alike.
The land acquisition and alignment work for four to five major infrastructure upgrades are nearing completion, and both carriageways along the stretch are expected to be ready by December. The next phase of the decongestion plan will begin in June, following the finalization of tenders.
These projects are part of a larger vision to position Bhubaneswar as a model city for modern traffic management. Authorities are targeting full completion of the entire project within 2.5 to 3 years, with hopes to drastically reduce traffic congestion and enhance road safety and efficiency throughout the Twin City region.
