New Delhi, June 4: A multi-party delegation (Group 4) led by Shiv Sena MP Dr. Shrikant Eknath Shinde has returned to India after completing a diplomatic mission to the UAE, Liberia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Sierra Leone as part of Operation Sindoor, India’s strategic initiative to counter global disinformation and affirm its zero-tolerance stance on terrorism.
Speaking on the conclusion of the tour, Dr. Shinde expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for entrusting the delegation with this important responsibility. "We were able to successfully convey India's unwavering position against terrorism. The response from all four nations was extremely encouraging. In both Sierra Leone and Liberia, local leadership observed a moment of silence to honour the victims of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. Even the Democratic Republic of Congo has assured us they will follow suit," he said.
Highlighting the impact of the visit, Biju Janata Dal MP Dr. Sasmit Patra said the delegation received strong moral and diplomatic support from every nation visited. “Our journey began in the UAE, where both the leadership and citizens expressed solidarity with India’s fight against terrorism. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, there was strong condemnation of the heinous Pahalgam attack. In Sierra Leone, the Parliament collectively stood for a minute of silence. Similarly, in Liberia, both the Senate and the National Assembly paid tribute to the victims,” he stated.
Dr. Patra further emphasized the broader significance of the outreach. “This mission not only helped in internationally exposing Pakistan’s long-standing support for terrorism but also played a key role in sensitizing world leaders to the urgent need for collective action against such threats. The context and intent of Operation Sindoor were deeply appreciated,” he added.
The delegation included MPs Bansuri Swaraj, Atul Garg, and Manan Kumar Mishra (BJP); ET Mohammed Basheer (Indian Union Muslim League); Dr. Sasmit Patra (BJD); senior BJP leader SS Ahluwalia; and former diplomat Sujan Chinoy.
Operation Sindoor is part of India’s comprehensive diplomatic push involving seven all-party delegations visiting strategic partner nations. The initiative aims to counter false narratives, highlight the human cost of cross-border terrorism, and galvanize international support for India's security concerns in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack.
