Bhubaneswar, May 25: At least two transgenders were detained in Bhubaneswar on Sunday for attacking on a traffic police team.
The accused ones were picked by the Commissionerate of Police after they wreaked havoc at Bargarh Gandhi Chhak while they were begging money from the commuters.
As per sources, a group of transgender persons were seeking alms from motorists during a red light stop to which a traffic cop on duty objected it citing security concern.Following this, they allegedly dragged the officer from the PCR and assaulted him.
In response to it, the police reached the scene and apprehended two transgender individuals who led the attack.
Interrogation to the accused persons is underway, said the police.
They might be produced before the court in the evening on the charges of wreaking nuisance, said sources.
